Arwen walked into the cafeteria and looked around to see if anyone else would have been up yet for breakfast. She not really seen anyone that was there at moment she actually wanted to sit down. She had been shocked that the lighthouse had chosen her to become one of the keepers. Once at the front of the line she had looked at all the food there before deciding on some ham, eggs, and cereal. She then moved down the line towards the drink and grabbing both a milk and apple juice.
She spent most of yesterday thinking about everything Mr. Castilla had said. She knew she could work on helping out around with the repairs around the lighthouse. Arwen really thought that some light painting and even carpentry would be fun if not having to do with that may tools. She went and set down on one of the table to eat wondering who else was enjoying their day before classes started.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revan Gemini came jogging into the sparsely occupied cafeteria. It was still pretty early, not to mention a weekend. However, if she quick grabbed some breakfast, she could probably have at least one hour outside before people started coming outside to spend time. That could give her 20 minutes to practice catching, 25 minutes for batting, and then at least ten minutes to run laps.
Grabbing some eggs, two pieces of toast, and glasses of both orange juice and milk, the young woman headed out to find a seat. While sitting alone did not really bother Revan, there were times where it was just nice to hear chatter. Looking about, she finally saw Arwen who was in a few of her classes. After all these years, the pair hadn't really talked much. Arwen liked books, Revan liked dirt - the two didn't really coincide.
However, just for a single breakfast, surely it couldn't hurt. And Arwen hasn't quite drug out her book yet so there was still time. Picking up her pace a little, Revan plopped down into a chair across from Arwen. She may have been a bit rude, not asking if someone was already sitting there or if the blond even wanted company.
Be that the case, it wouldn't be hard to ignore Revan...well, if Revan allowed her. If anyone knew how to get attention, it was her. Adjusting her backwards baseball cap, the young woman dropped into her chair. "Yo." She called as a way of greeting to Arwen. If Revan remembered correctly, the two were from around the same area of the States. Maybe it was something they could talk about, if Arwen was interested.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen looked up from eating her cereal after having heard someone say something to her. She then had seen it was Revan having joined her at the table. She not really talk to the girl about anything but this could turn out to be that year.
"Hello there Revan. I hope that the school year has been decent so far?" Arwen asked after having swallowed the food in her mouth. She nod know much on the girl except for the fact that she like to be outside playing sports. There also was the twin thing that she found out out about their first year but knew to stay away from the subject. If Arwen did not want talk about hers in detail why should she ask others about theirs?
She move to take a bite of her ham giving her time to think a little more. Not knowing a girl made the choices of that to say difficult on saying right things. Arwen could talk sports but she never really played them and got out of PE this year. "So have any plans for last day before classes start."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revan considered the question. "Probably get some practice before everyone wakes up. At some point, I will probably go try to goad Pratt into running with me - get ready for track and stuff. And after that, it's anybody's guess." She took a bite of her eggs before looking up.
"What about you? Pretty early for most people to already be up...Farm girl?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen set there listening to her talk about how she was most likely was going to go down and work on practicing before everyone woke up. Then talking about taking Pratt to go on a run. "That smart idea I mean it alway a good idea to work on getting ready for sports early." She knew that much.
She move to take a bit of her food thinking of way to explain how to say why without to many details. "No I am not a farm girl. I sure that would be fun to do might talk father into letting me do that one summer. The reason I am up early is nanny alway tried to make sure I ate around same time everyday. Breakfast was always most important to her since need it to start brain working."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Certainly more of an early riser than his brother had been, Zot entered the cafeteria. As soon as the smell of freshly cooked bacon assualted his senses his stomach growled. Since it was still the weekend, he was glad to be free of the uniform for one more day. He wore a simple faded black hoodie, a pair of dark blue jeans and black sneakers.
He made his way into line, his tic behaving itself for once as he only twitched once or twice every thirty seconds or so. It was another reason to be in a cheerful mood. As such, he flashed a smile to the lunch lady as he piled his tray high with bacon, scrambled eggs and buttered toast. He then picked up a can of Pumpkin Fizz, and went to the register to have his ticket punched.
Zot turned, the smile still in place as he looked around for a place to sit. He finally decided on a place by the windows so he could watch the remnance of the sunrise and devour his breakfast.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lorccan stumbled into the Cafeteria, rubbing sleep from his eyes. He had a noisy roommate this year. When Zot left Lorccan tried to get back to sleep but couldn't. Since he was awake, Lorccan decided he might as well eat. He wore his pajama bottoms and slippers with a t-shirt instead of his pajama tops. He was sure he packed them but he couldn't find them last night. Either somebody took off with them, or he forgot them at home. Not that he cared either way. Lorccan also had his bathrobe on, tied up neatly at the waist. The fly in his pj bottoms wasn't the most reliable and he didn't want anything inappropriate to occur.
Yawning loudly again he slipped into line at the counter, tray in hand. The server gave him looks but he ignored them, just listed off what he wanted to eat. Once he eaten he will change into more appropriate clothing, or go back to bed, all depends on how noisy it was in the dorm when he returned. Plate filled with eggs, bacon, ham, some milk and buttered toast, Lorccan scanned the room and spotted his noisy roommate. Might as well sit with him and see if he notices how tired he looks.
He headed over to where Zot was sitting by the windows. He plopped down across from and grinned. "Morning Twitch, how's it going?" He asked, not unkindly. The name fitted Zot and as far as Lorccan was concerned, was better than 'Zot'. Twitch had a sort of...old style mob flavor, in his mind. "Definitely going to have to break you out of that habit."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He looked up as his roommate joined him. Zot noticed that Lorccan looked rough around the edges and would have commented on it until the other boy spoke. Though his smile remained, there was a slight sadness which drooped the corners of his mouth ever so slightly at being called 'Twitch'.
Instead he replied to his second comment, possibly misjudging what he was saying. "I can't help it, so there isn't much to break me of," he said. "It's a beautiful morning, don't you think?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Weekend mornings are for sleeping in, Twitch." Lorccan informed him before digging into his eggs. Once he downed a few mouthfuls he continued. "Mornings are boring, best to sleep through them. Besides sunsets are nicer to see. I like sleeping in as much as I can every day, especially weekends. If you like getting up all nice and early, that's fine..just be more quiet."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Siobhan hurried to breakfast after her first night spent in the lighthouse. She liked Arwen. She looked around for her brother and found him sitting near Zot. She filled her tray with two pop tarts, a bowl of fruit loops, some chocolate milk, and a cinnamon roll. None of the things her mom let her eat at home, and her first full day back at school she was craving sugar.
"Hi Lorccan." She noticed him calling Zot Twitch. Not very nice if you asked her, besides, Zot was cute. "Hi Zot," she said, smiling warmly. She'd probably be a lot friendlier if she didn't already have a boy on the top of her list who she liked that way. "Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked, sitting next to him before he answered. "I hope my brother isn't giving you a hard time. If he does, you just tell me, and I'll take care of him for you," she added, showing her dimples.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revan looked at Arwen in disbelief for a moment. "Nanny? As in someone who lives with your family and takes care of you while your parents are off...who knows where?" She didn't think they existed any more - especially for someone Arwen's age.
Just as she turned her face down to her plate again while waiting for her companion's answer, the familiar form passed into her line of sight. Turning her head slightly, Revan felt her heart skip a beat as Zot Drake took a seat by the window. A slight smile appeared on her face just seeing him there.
The girl had had a crush on him for about a year now. 90% of her time in detention the previous school year had been because of him - not that he would get her in trouble. While Revan had never liked it when people were cruel for something a person could not control, last year she had finally gotten strong enough to do something about it. Every time she caught someone picking on poor Zot's Tourette's, Revan would make sure they regretted it. Her attack may not have been immediately after he was out of sight but it would occur within a few hours.
Thus, she had been very close to being expelled at the end of her fourth year for the violent behavior. No one was ever seriously hurt. However, there had been more than a few black eyes and broken noses and for some reason, Principal Cook would not take her excuse of defending someone else. If only she had done something, like Revan had suggested, then this wouldn't be necessary.
Revan could not help but enjoy the view of the young man until some kid came and sat down across from him. She could tell by the way Zot's smile slightly dropped that he had been teased and was trying to make good of it. Before school even started, she was already going to have detention...super. But in the long run - to her - it was worth it.
For a split second, she wished that he had come before her so that she could have taken advantage of the almost empty room and sat with him. Not like they were complete strangers. Occasionally, they would talk (something that wasn't exactly easy for her for the last year) and of course, they had been partners for a project in Revan's favorite class Astronomy and another in Herbology. If it weren't for his help, she definitely would have failed that one.
However, to just get up in the middle of Arwen and her conversation would be incredibly rude. Besides, Revan could probably talk to Zot later, if she could find him. Arwen probably wouldn't be as easy to find or lure into conversation. Thus, she returned her eyes to Arwen while she quickly finished up her eggs in a few big bites (not because she wanted to escape but because suddenly, Revan was very hungry).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen turn to Revan as when she asked about what a nanny was to make sure it was same thing. She frowns realizing what she said and how it looked. "Yes a nanny is someone that comes in and helps take care when their parents are away. Nanny Rebecca is my best friend in whole world. She is now part of the family so father has not fired her."
She knew it was strange to still have a nanny at her age. The turth was more though that since her father worked a lot he had not wanted her to be alone during the summers. Rebecca was just still there to help out around house and give her someone to talk to. "I am allowed to do my own things when home now. She just there to make sure things like I eat instead of read all summer happen."
Arwen has looked up setting someone else having come into the room smiled seeing it Zot that entered. She had though about asking him to join though was not sure what to say since they not talked often. It was one of many flaws because she love to talk and make friends with people when around them. The reason though it did not is because all her time was in library.
She finally decided that they could talk later since she seen Lorccan at assembly and he did not see happy. Last she wanted to do go and upset him again.
She turned back to Revan knowing once school started other then classes most likely they would not be seen. "So what you do over this summer."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He sighed as Lorrcan obviously didn't understand, he literally at times could not help being loud whether it was noises or his occasional series of profanities. Zot was beginning to prepare himself to explain his condition when Lorrcan's sister popped up. He offered her a kind smile and nodded as she sat down, his mouth full of scrambled eggs. He gave a non-commital shrug, not wishing to cause problems with his roommate. He did, after all, have to live with him for the rest of the year...or at least a week or so until he was accepted into Hope and Glory. This was his year, he was sure of it!
He reached up and cracked open his can of wizard soda and took a swig from it to wash down the food. "How are you this morning Siobhan?" he asked, noticing she was far more chipper than her brother. Maybe someone else would appreciate the morning with him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Surprised to see you here, Siobhan." Lorccan sighed. That's all he needs now, his sister hovering about. Despite the fact she had told him some things about it, he still resented the fact she was picked to be a Lighthouse Keeper. "Figured you'll be polishing mirrors or something now that you're a Lighthouse Keeper."
"And for your information I am not giving Twitch a hard time, just a better nickname than Zot. Twitch at least sounds cool, instead of Zot which sounds more like a cheap cartoon noise. Besides if he didn't like having a nickname that sounded more like a tough mobster from an old movie, I am sure he'll tell me. My new roommate afterall."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zot winced slightly when Lorrcan declared that his name was stupid. His smile faltered completely and he set his fork down, pushing his tray away as he suddenly lost his appetite. With a sigh, he looked at Lorrcan a bit shyly as he didn't like confrontation.
"Actually, Zot is short for Zoticus, which is my middle name," he said quietly. "I chose Zot when I was a little kid because I liked the sound of it. I don't really, uh...like being called Twitch."
With that said, in order to avoid any other hard feelings, Zot stood and picked up his tray with one hand, the other picking up his drink. He have a soft smile to his roommate's sister. "Have a great day Siobhan. I think I'm going to go. Lorrcan," he said with a nod before leaving the table. He took care of his garbage on the way out, setting the tray on the stack to be cleaned. His soda in hand, he walked out of the cafeteria to look for something to keep himself occupied.
