Being asked to see two teachers after classes today certainly wasn't making her first day of school a good one. Elizabeta knew there were times she questioned authority, but to be requested to speak to two teachers on the same day? It never happened to her before now. There was a chance at least one wasn't likely to result in a detention. Yet she worried it may mean being kicked out of her Legacy. She liked the Novus Ordo Secolorum Legacy and all its mysteries. She also liked Mr. Grassman. Like Mr. Llewellyn he had a mystery about him which interested her. She wanted to know what made both wizards tick. She wanted to learn what they knew and given what she learned of them both so far this year, she certainly intended to pursue what she wanted all the more. Codes and symbolism, now that itself will keep her quite busy during her spare time.
As much as she rather return straight to her room in them Novus Ordo Secolorum Legacy House, she wanted to get at least one of her 'talks' over with. Thus she decided to see Miss Buskirk first, she can go see Mr. Grassman before she headed for dinner. She did have to drop off her school stuff in her room anyway. Neither specified a time to see her after classes, afterall.
Knocking upon Miss Buskirk's office door, she hoped this will be a short private discussion. It was tough enough understanding her normally but in a lengthy speech, Elizabeta would be hard pressed to follow. A real 'Mississippi Queen', even living in a houseboat. Not that Elizabeta would ever say that to her face.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misty Buskirk bade the girl to enter. The day prior, the teacher felt too much animosity toward Elizabeta Romani-Nicoli to feel she could punish her fairly. While she was a teacher, she was also a human being with feelings. A performing arts teacher was hardly considered a real teacher to begin with and she felt the other instructors always talked over her and treated her as a lower class citizen. So, when a student treated her that way, her defenses went up.
Now that a full day had passed, Miss Buskirk had had time to stand back and view the situation objectively. "T'ank you for coming," she said to Elizabeta with a trace of a smile. "Please, sit down."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elizabeta entered the teacher's office and took a seat as instructed. Hopefully this won't take long as Elizabeta was far more concerned about the talk Mr. Grassman wanted to have with her. "You wanted to talk with me, Miss Buskirk?" She inquired politely.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Yes, I'd like to apologize for speakin' to ya de way I did," Miss Buskirk half-smiled with embarrassment. "You were in de wrong, but I could have been nicer."
Misty pulled a pen from its place, tucked behind her ear, and started filling out a little form. "Now, you didn't help matters wit your attitude t'ward de rest of de council, so do not t'ink you are off de hook," she pushed the detention slip across the table and put her pen behind her ear once more. "You will spend no more dan one hour, at your earliest convenience, gettin' de gum off de bottom of de foldin' chairs. We'll have dem lined up along de wall during de dance. De faster you get it done, de faster you can go do whatever you want."
She waited to see if Elizabeta would agree or object, before moving on to the next matter - The matter of Elizabeta's continued involvement in the council as a NOS student representative.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Something told her letting her own pride get in the way would hamper her more than help. Elizabeta nodded to the Performing Arts instructor. "I accept your apology Miss Buskirk and I must apologize for my own attitude during the committee meeting. It definitely was not an example of behavior I am proud of."
"I accept the detention and will get the chairs cleaned up well before the dance." She agreed knowing in this case, it was easier to accept the detention than argue against it. Afterall she had not specified she couldn't use magic and it would take much more than an hour to clean all the chairs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"T'ank you, Elizabeta. Now, I would like t' know if you wanta remain on de council dis year," Misty paused. "Keep in mind, not everyone on last year's will be on dis year's. It isn't up t' me, it's up to your Legacy and it's faculty rep. I only oversee de dances, but I can vouch for your leadership skills, if you want. You are a natural leader, and I t'ink you are an asset to de group."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I will most definitely like to remain on the Council this year. I am sure Mr. Grassman will be supportive of my remaining the Skulls' representative." Assuming her mess-up on taking pictures of what lies beneath the carpet didn't lose her his support. "I do appreciate your support in this, Miss Buskirk but I have to admit I am a little surprised, given I did not manage to keep things civil between myself and several members of the committee. I expect most of it was only misunderstandings and the fact I did think upon everything that was said, I just didn't vocalize my through processes. Thus my conclusions seemed to irritate certain members."
"If I remain on the Council, or even the committee I will most certainly use better people skills than I have demonstrated so far. Afterall, diffusing or stopping potential flareups of temper which serve only to disrupt the proceedings, will only improve upon my leadership skills."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You are teenagers, and all of different minds, chall," Misty chuckled. "It is expected, bickerin'. If we did not expect it, we would not have rules and consequences to teach you it is somet'ing to avoid as you grow older. I am very happy dat you will work on your temper. Sometimes it is more about pickin' your battles dan agreein' wit people."
Miss Buskirk shifted some papers around on her desk. "Dat is all I wanted to discuss, unless you have somet'ing else t' say," she smiled kindly. "Do ya need a note t' be excused from practice or anyt'ing?"
She wasn't sure if Elizabeta played any sports or anything.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Thank you for your advice, Miss Buskirk." Elizabeta replied politely, glad the meeting was short. Now to head to her room and talk to her Legacy adviser. Once that was cleared up she can have dinner and take care of the folding chairs. She will have to wait till after dinner to take care of that anyway to ensure they won't be in use.
"I have nothing else to say, Miss Buskirk." Elizabeta concluded, rising from her chair. "I won't need any note to be excused from practice, I don't have anything scheduled for this evening requiring a note. Thank you for offering. Have a good day."
Elizabeta took her leave as Miss Buskirk did indicate she had nothing else.
