Arwen walked into the library knowing this was her favorite place to be in the school. If the staff at the school would have allowed it she would have been more than happy to make a bed area in here and stay. This was one of the first years she was looking forward to actually going to her dorm at night. She had already been in here today during first period which was when she worked as an assistant. Now though she was here to find herself a book to check out and read.
She been thinking about everything that had already happen before school had started knowing that this was going to be a roller coaster. The year didn't really get into any drama and Arwen already thought about how her life would make a perfect book.
The first day of being back she went to the library just to be back in there. After having looked through all the shelves the decision finally came down to a book on charms. Finally while going through it, Arwen found one that could help out the lighthouse had chosen another keeper, luckily this time it was her. Unfortunately she wasn't as lucky as the others as she was taken from the library and dumped into the sand outside the lighthouse, instead of inside. Once the keepers finally all showed up it made them realize it was a young group with youngest being a freshman. Meeting with the advisor was even interesting when Makepeace said that because of the books he was given there was to be some danger.
Then you had everything that happen yesterday. The council meeting to pick Hello Dance theme went completely out of hand with all the different temperaments there. There had been name calling, deaf ears to some of the ideas given, and even people working on trying to take over leadership of the meeting. Never would she tell anyone out loud but she was looking forward to helping out Friday to set it up just to see what would happen or if people could act civilized.
Last thing that happen is the keepers had their first huge secret as a group. Pratt and Siobhan had become a couple during the storm. Arwen had started to look at guys in a more romantic way but had not really found anyone she figure would have wanted to date her. Most of the males at this school it seems already had their eyes set on a different female student. So until that time for her came she would be single with all her romantic novels.
She looked at all the books and decide which one to read. While working in decided she moved to grab the charms book from the other day. This year would definitely going to be a storybook year hopefully it have good ending for all.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elizabeta was quite thoughtful when she ate her dinner. The talk with Mr. Grassman certainly was a reality check for her. The risks of letting her ambition get away from her and not using her common sense. Of course she should have talked with him, told him what Mr. Llewellyn asked of her. But she didn't, and she did get burned. But she won't fail in learning everything she could about the Lighthouse, even if she had to use veritiserum to get answers.
Once she finished her dinner, Elizabeta took about 45 minutes to clean the gum off the bottoms of the folding chairs. It always disgusted her people would stick their gum on chairs like this. It wasn't that hard to wrap it in a tissue and drop it into a trash bin. Typical immature kids, far too lazy to walk ten feet. That and the staff don't enforce the no gum rule as much as they should. Shaking her head, she finished the task and sent a note to Miss Buskirk she completed her detention.
Now to begin her new task and no point delaying. Thus she headed for the library. Any known information about the Lighthouse was likely in the library, at least the history of it. She had looked through various sections of the library till she found a few books that will help give her more information about the lighthouse's history. A foundation to start her research. Moving down another aisle she spotted Arwen Green...one of the new Lighthouse Keepers. Elizabeta should have known she would be in the library, every time she was here practically she spotted the witch.
"Hello Arwen, enjoy your first day of classes?" Elizabeta asked politely as she approached the younger student.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen looked up when she had heard someone start to talk to her. Most of the time this late at night she was one of the few people that were still in here because others were out doing whatever else they wanted. When she saw it was Elizabeta standing there it was even more shocking. This girl had called her childish yesterday and now wanted to talk like they done it before. “Hello there Elizabeta, I did enjoy my first day of classes. Then again though any other than days with tests or lots of homework I like every day of class. What about you did your first day of classes went well.”
She moved back to her book since she had found the spell she had found the day the lighthouse had chosen her. She knew that now being a lighthouse keeper it was something that was needed even more for the fact that you never knew where the lighthouse was planning on dropping you off. Pratt had been example since he said it dropped him out in the rock area when picked. She was willing to talk to the girl about things but wished Elizabeta would at least be civil this time and not call her names like childish.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Good to hear your first day went well. I found classes quite interesting myself. Pretty much all my favorite classes fall together today." Elizabeta glanced at the text Arwen had in her hand. "Getting set up for homework or is that for your own personal enjoyment?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen had seen her look at the book she had in her hand. She finished on how to do the charm before closing it for the moment. “This might become homework at some point but at this moment it is all for personal enjoyment. The truth was I found this charm when here but was called away before able to write it down. Never know when you might get hurt and need a splint. It is really great that you are able to have all your favorite classes on one day. I love to have mine split up, that way every day I am looking forward to a class.”
She figured she just check out this book in the end since paying attention to Elizabeta. It was rude to not have eye contact with the person. Medusa was the only thing you did not want to look at since it would turn you into stone. “I have not seen you in here that often. You working on personal enjoyment or working on homework.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A bit of both." Elizabeta replied with a shrug. "To be honest I enjoy every class I take, I enjoy learning and the courses I selected for my final years here, are all perfect for what I have in mind for my future. Even after I leave here I will always be focusing on improving my knowledge and magical skills."
"But my future aside, I wanted to apologize to you Arwen, about my conduct during the dance committee meeting. I have the impression everybody in attendance assumed when I called members childish, I meant all of them. That isn't' the case, I meant the few who intentionally made a scene and stormed out. Zot's condition aside, he did come back and act rather childish in leaving just because one other member left in a hissy fit previously. The other member, hasn't been at a meeting since the first couple, last year. I doubt anybody truly expected Lorccan to show."
"You, Arwen have always conducted yourself with maturity during those meetings." Elizabeta adds.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen listen to her talking about how she was really looking forwards to have kept learning and improving skills. “Well it great that you want to improve your knowledge. This room is a great place to work on improving your skills. They have a book on about any skill you would want.” She smiled looking around room. “What plans you have job wise when you graduate beside improving skills? There plenty of jobs that could use your skills and help you learn more.”
She smiled turning toward Elizabeta shocked when she started to work on apologizing about how she had acted in the meeting. The girl in front of her was not the type of person that she believed would have apologized for anything. It was also the reason she was going to help set up the dance to see what happen. “Thank you and I accept the apology. The committee meeting had gotten heated and lots of people were stepping on each other’s toes. This even harder since most of us are still in the summer mood and want our ideas to be the ones that happen. It will be harder for people to want to work with you if calling us all childish even though only means a few people. “
“I not even sure at times how Lorccan got onto the council. He seems to be really interesting and one that would come up with lots of ideas if actually thought about it all. The truth was I believe that he joined because of his sister. I tried it be mature about everything since if everyone arguing then no one would get any work done.” She was happy to have seen this side of Elizabeta. “Plus here is a room full of ideas.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gee, imagine that, a library was filled with books about all kinds of skills and knowledge. Elizabeta mentally smirked. Arwen certainly had knack for stating the painfully obvious but now wasn't the time for Elizabeta to get on the younger witches case about it. Why the Lighthouse picked her to be a Keeper this year, she had no idea. Unless it wanted her raw knowledge of where every book in the library is, probably better than the librarian herself. Pushing these rather uncomplimentary thoughts aside, Elizabeta focused on what Arwen was asking.
"I am torn between becoming an Auror or seeking employment within the Ministry Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures Department." Elizabeta stated, both true goals. Her ultimate goal, would need a strong foundation and either of these two choices will certainly ensure it. "How about yourself, Arwen? What are your career goals?"
"Thank you for accepting my apology. I expect the usual transition between summer freedoms back to usual school routine has put a few of us out of sorts. That and well, puberty in our younger committee members may have contributed." She was aware most of the committee members were well in their teens but none were older than she was, at least not currently. "As for Lorccan, I definitely know he didn't join just because his sister was a member, as I am sure you recall, committee members are appointed by the staff. I expect he won't be on it once the new committee is announced."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen looked around the room thinking about what she would have wanted to have wanted to be when grew up and graduated from this school. That was one of the few things that she had yet to really think about it because there was still a few years left to figure it out. “The truth is that I not really sure what I want to be when get out of here. Most likely thought if had to pick something now it would deal with books. Plus I trying to figure out what my father things would be great job since after school he wants me to go to college. He is really busy though so I not getting to talk with others often. I believe that either one of those jobs would do you great. Both of them come with a status and will keep you busy.”
She moved to set her book away that way she could check it out before planning on leaving. She knew that with everything that she was going on this year. Arwen understood the puberty issues because well she not expected to have any relationships to hear about this early. “Oh I understand that the staff picks the people that are elected onto the council but the student does not have to accept it though. They could have turned it down wonder why if he did not want to do any of this he would not have just turned it down. No most likely he will not be in but truth not even sure who they would pick this year.”
“Can I help you with getting a book or you find what you looked for?” Arwen wanted to help out with finding all the correct books.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If I were you Arwen, figure out what you want to be, it does make it easier to know what classes to take and which college to go to. If you wait till the last year here, it is just that much harder to get into a college of choice." Elizabeta suggested. Yet considering her only stated interest so far was books, about the only career she was likely to go for, in Elizabeta's opinion, was a librarian. Not a bad profession but really beneath a skilled witch, a Muggle could organized books, so many do already. But not all wizards and witches wanted to totally cut themselves off from Muggles. "If books really are your passion, you certainly could aim at writing your own, or being a research assistant."
"Oh, I am fine, I already found what I was looking for. We should talk more later but as its getting late and I have to walk across campus to get to the Skull's Legacy House, I should be going. It was quite pleasant talking with you." Elizabeta didn't want to take too much of the other witch's time but she felt things were sufficiently smoothed over future conversations should be easier. Now to work on the other O'Brien..but that can wait till another day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen thought about what Elizabeta said about finding out what want to do at this time. She really had never thought about what she wanted to do or what college to go to. “Well I never really thought about any of that stuff since figured I could have waited until it was time to graduate to figure that out. Most of the classes taken so far have been the basic ones you needed for any class. I am still thinking about what type college I want to go to. Dad wants me to go to a Muggle school but really wanting to go to a Magical Ivy leave school. So biggest thought is what to learn and it makes choices easy. I believe that both of those ideas would have been great for me. Could start out as an assistant but then write book on side.”
Arwen looked out of the window and realized that it had become darker then she realized. “I believe you are right and we need to get back to the houses. It would not look good for anyone if on the first day we are walking in late to the house. It was nice talking to you sorry we not really talked that often before. I need to go check out this book and I am sure we will be talking again sometime this week for the fact that both of us are working on the Pajama Party.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I will walk with you to the counter, I have my own books to check out." Elizabeta held up her arm briefly where she had a few books in hand, the first being a history of the school itself. She had read it before, a few years back but wanted to refresh her memory on what it said about the Lighthouse. "At least you have the advantage of the Lighthouse bringing you inside, instead of having to walk to it."
"Yes, now that we have a theme settled on, the decorations and layout will need to be determined quickly so we can make sure we have everything we need in sets and decor. Anything we are missing we will have to fabricate, which shouldn't be too difficult. I am sure we can convince some faeries to serve as stars and other lights." Elizabeta added, remembering they had several strings of lights which used faeries as a light source. "Then its determining the layout and getting everything set up on time."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arwen smiled as they started to walk towards the counter lightly thinking about what she was saying about the lighthouse. “You are right the lighthouse will bring me inside sometimes. The problem though is you never know where the lighthouse is going to take you. It could take me all the way to Timbuktu if it wanted. There would have been a really important reason but not sure what till got there. Those are some good books you will enjoy them.”
“It great that we finally have a theme we agree on. We can get plenty of people to work on having things fabricated for the dance. The school had classes and groups of students that might not be that great but willing to help. We have an advantage though because of the fact that we have magic on our side. It would take a normal school longer time to get everything down where ours only takes like two hours.” She knew there was lots of things that they had planned to do for the party just had to make sure it all turn out right.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"To be perfectly honest Arwen, the whole idea of a pajama party is rather...uncomfortable for me but I do realize most students will find the theme quite enjoyable and relaxing. I was more hoping we would have the 'Through The Looking Glass' theme but it didn't get the votes." Elizabeta was glad she had brought her new velvet nightgown. It would be perfect once winter came but for the dance, its thicker and heavier cloth would ensure she was properly covered and not be getting the looks from the perverts of the school. She expected many of the pubescent boys will be getting their jollies watching the girls bouncing about. A bouncy ball cage, or whatever it is called, seemed a perfect place for boys to go so they can cup a feel of any unsuspecting girl inside and get away with it. Elizabeta resisted rolling her eyes at the thought. She wasn't against physical contact or kissing but she just preferred to be a bit more private with such things than flaunting about half naked and making out for all to see.
"I was raised on more traditional values than most people so I certainly am not going to restrict them on the fun they can find in such a theme. Its not my style but its obviously preferred by most." She shrugged. Once they both checked out their books, Elizabeta turned to Arwen once more as they walked towards the exit out of the library.
"I believe the Lighthouse will bring you right inside, just by touching your pin and requesting it. Its really the only way to get into the lighthouse short of taking a boat across the water separating the rock the lighthouse is on from the rest of Cat Island." That much she had learned in her past studies and she did talk to Lighthouse keepers in the past. She just didn't have as much incentive to learn more about the mysterious sentient building than in past years.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well I believe that both of them would have been a great idea for a party and to have people mingle. The pajama one seemed as if it was going to be more complex one and less likely to have not having got hurt since pillows are not that hard. Plus when think about it, ‘Through the Looking Glass’ would make it easier for the trouble makers. I mean think about it when wearing your clothes the normal way it is hard enough to stop people from playing pranks. If they are at you back where you cannot protect them it could make for lots of pants around ankles.” Arwen then frowns and face turned pink as she started to think about all the people walking around in their undergarments because of a prank. It then to her would have become a pajama party anyways but not as proper as if did it to begin with?
She made it to the door and knew that she was going to walk as close to the lighthouse before using the pin. It did not seem fair to use the lighthouse to bring her back from anywhere in the school. She also was not a sports fanatic so this was her exercise because opted out of PE this year. “They will take us home but most of the time it just as easy to walk down to the edge of Cat Island and take a boat if there. If not then I can use the pin to take me home.”
She been thinking about everything that had already happen before school had started knowing that this was going to be a roller coaster. The year didn't really get into any drama and Arwen already thought about how her life would make a perfect book.

Elizabeta was quite thoughtful when she ate her dinner. The talk with Mr. Grassman certainly was a reality check for her.
It would take a normal school longer time to get everything down where ours only takes like two hours.” She knew there was lots of things that they had planned to do for the party just had to make sure it all turn out right.
