After changing Lorccan left the dorms and skipped across the lawns towards the forest. Over his shoulder he had a backpack, which a fishing rod, currently apart, sticking out of it. Inside the bag he had his tackle box, a couple of naughty magazines to keep himself amused, plus a few other things. He expected he could get a late dinner at Wight Towne before finding a good spot to fish, either off the shore or in a boat.
It doesn't take him long to navigate the path through the trees using the lit tip of his wand to shine the way. Soon he spotted the lights of the home of the Elves, or Smurfville as he called it. He even offered to dye the elves blue and give them big white boots and a hat to wear to fit the part. They refused. No idea what he was talking about. Oh well.
Once he was in the town, the elves watched him and most waved in response to his hails.
"Good evening, one and all." He says cheerfully. "Decided dancing wasn't appealing to me tonight so thought I would do some fishing...before it gets too cold for such fun. If I could borrow a boat and something to eat while I do, it will be greatly appreciated."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It didn't take him long to convince the elves to let him take a boat. He was't trying to run away afterall. Lorccan knew if he tried doing that his father would skin him alive. Nor did Lorccan have a huge amount of money to be able to live on his own for the rest of the school year. As much as he hated school, he liked it far better than he would admit. There was always something interesting to do, just harder to find it some times. It was some of the compulsory classes that bored him to death.
With a boat brought out, fully equipped with oars and a single sail, Lorccan was soon out into the sea. He easily conjured a wind so he could fill the sail and direct the small boat to his favorite spot to fish. He would get plenty of yellow fins and other tasty fish. He always kept them despite the fact he couldn't cook them himself. Sometimes he would start up a fire on the beach and cook them in some foil but he only did that when it was nearly summer. All other times he gave them to the elves. They always seemed to appreciate the fresh fish and it paid them for their kindness in letting him use a boat and packing him up a meal to take with him.
Letting the wind in the sail drop, he lowered the anchor and spent a few minutes taking the small sail down. It woudn't do to have a gust of wind blow up and spin him around the anchor rope or worse, tilt the boat over. With everything secure, he took out his wand from his backpack and put the two sections of rod together. A few minutes later he was leaning back along the seat, lifejacket propped behind him as a back rest and his rod lightly. He loved being on the water, even though it didn't involve much activity,it gave him the perfect time and place to simply enjoy the beauty of the stars and the gentle rocking of the boat.
