After leaving the Principal's office Lorccan took off for the grounds. He didn't even bother getting any breakfast or changing from the clothes he put on the night before to go fishing. It was horrifying to learn early this morning his sister was kidnapped but a huge relief to find out she was rescued unharmed. Scared but unharmed. It was worse learning she rather be with her new lighthouse friends than have him around to protect her.
He found himself near the cliffs facing the Lighthouse and all the hurt and anger just burst out of him in the only way he could express it at this point.
"LIGHTHOUSE!" He shouted, doubting it will even hear him. As far as he knew the only people it communicated with was its keepers and Mr. Castilla. "WHY my Sister and not ME?"
"Its great you saved her.' He shouted a little less loudly. "I really thank you for that but... I am her Brother, why did you send her to Pratt of all people?"
"WHY didn't you Bring me in there too? She needed ME, don't you SEE? Now she's all freaked out and doesn't know who to trust." Lorccan kicked at a tuft of grass growing near the edge of the cliff. "WHY ARE YOU KEEPING US APART? SHE"s all that I have."
The last part was hard to admit but it was very true. Lorccan didn't have many close friends anymore, most turned their back on him when he went to a different school. A special school. They all thought he was some retard. He couldn't tell them he was going to a school for wizards. He almost did hex them once but didn't knowing he risked getting into real trouble if he did that. After he was beaten by his father he wished he had hexed the kid, then he would have been kicked out of Salem and his father wouldn't have any other choice but to send him to the school all his friends went to. Now he knew it would be too late to pull that sort of stunt to get out of school. He did like learning magic enough to want to get good at it. If somebody tried to kidnap his sister once they probably do it again and he had to be able to do something if he was with her..he needed to get better at magic, that's the only thing he could do.
"If I can't be with her, Lighthouse then you better protect her!" He called out. "if she gets hurt cause you didn't protect her I will...burn you down!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris had woken up this morning and though about going into the cafeteria but then decide that he really had not wanted to put up with all the other students that might have been in there. He had been worried about the girl that been taken hoping she was okay; however he did not want to listen to all the other students talk about it.
He knew from living in the bad part of town that stories could spread easily. Most the times those stories were false made up to fit what happen. Christopher did not believe that a magic school would have been any different. Having stopped at one the vending machines, he grabbed a cheap fruit bar before heading outside to explore and find something to do.
He kept walking around trying to find a place to hang out he heard yelling from a distance. Christopher headed in that direction of the voice to see what was going on and why they would be yelling about something. Once close enough the form of one the older boys was standing there. He not made really any chance at making friend so was not sure who it was. "What has you yelling? Most people I have seen around at this school don't act this way. It not anything against you but little strange."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lorccan stopped shouting at the Lighthouse when he heard somebody talking nearby. He felt a little frustrated to be interrupted, as he just uttered a very good threat to the Lighthouse if it didn't watch over his sister since it made sure he couldn't. Then again Lorccan highly doubted the stupid glorified light bulb was even paying attention to him.
Turning he saw one of the First years had showed up and was talking about how others at the school didn't act the way Lorccan had been. A part of him felt like telling the First year to mind his own business before he decided to toss into the Throckwattle House. Lorccan had noticed it was being particularly solid this morning when he walked passed it. But the First Year had a point, it wasn't typical for students to go yelling at the Lighthouse.
"I was yelling at the Lighthouse, its being a pain. Took my sister as a Keeper and now it seems bound and determined to keep her from me." Lorccan said as an explanation for his yelling. "As for the rest of the people of this place, I don't typically do what they all do anyway."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christopher had been relived to find out that this student did not follow typical ways. This meant that hopefully they might get along and not be agitated with each other. He learned that most of the times the cookie cutter model students were ones he fought with most. Those students were the ones that were rich, smart, and outgoing. It was easy to pick them out because of fact they showed it even if had not noticed or meant to. Christopher move to take a bite out of his breakfast listening to why the other student was yelling. If he had reason like that Christopher might do same.
"That seems to be a good enough reason though. She is family and you want to make sure she is safe." He knew had his sister still been alive all the brothers would be protective of her. He been that way even though younger since they were close in age. He not known much about the keepers to understand the lighthouse since he believed it just a thing. "Not all people are the same so it good you are unique. I don't do what most people do either."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My sister was the one who was kidnapped from the dance." Lorccan sighed. "But the Lighthouse did save her but it seems..every since it picked her to be a Keeper, its doing its best to keep us apart." Lorccan scooped up some rocks from the ground and threw them out into the ocean. He was aiming towards the lighthouse but there was no way he could threw a rock that far. Probably a good thousand feet to the base of the Lighthouse from here.
"But that's my issue to deal with. Who are you anyway? I don't remember hearing your name." Lorccan knew he was being rude but he was irritated still. And seeing the first year eating some food he brought, Lorccan realized he didn't even have breakfast yet. Not that he felt like going into the cafe right now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christopher listen to him talking about his sister and then the lighthouse. He had not expected to have been sitting here and talking to family of the girl since it was what he was trying to avoid when going out. He could tell that at least the girl was safe and back at the school from lighthouse. As this being this first year here he did not understand that much about the lighthouse and everything that it did. Why would it separate families and not allow them to hang out and protect each other. Christopher was glad that he did not have any family here to take that chance. "It great that she is back at the school and safe even if you are not able to see her. I would not want to be apart from my family either so understand why you are yelling at it."
He moved to take another bite of his bar knowing there was only about one or two more before it was finished. He frowns though realizing that he was going to end up getting in lots of fights before the year was up because it seem that everyone had issues at the school. "My name is Christopher. I am a new student it is nice to meet you. I don't remember your name though either sorry."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lorccan sat down on a stump near Chris and stared out at the Lighthouse. He hoped he would be able to see his sister at lunch or at least dinner. Hopefully she won't be with Pratt or a teacher so he can be with her as they were in the past. He could make her feel safe better than anybody save maybe their parents. Lorccan always felt safe with mother, not so much his father.
"I am Lorccan, nice to meet you Christopher." He replied. "So what do you think of your first week of school? Believe when I say kidnappings haven't happened here before. If it wasn't the fact it was my sister who was kidnapped, I probably think it was a great break from the usual boring crap that happens here year in and year out."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christopher moved to set on the ground next to Lorccan talk about the lighthouse and explain that this was not something that happened normally. He not talk to anyone about the school and things that seemed to happen. He knew it be better to learn more about the school and now this was his chance. He finished off his breakfast sticking the wrapper in his pocket. Maybe at home he would have just thrown it out but here it felt better to not dirty the place up. The magic school might not like it and try take it out on him. "Well it nice to know that this place is not a boring this year."
He started to think about how it would have been it had been boring that happened every year and never changed. Christopher looked at the water and laughed a little realizing that he really missed the fact that it was going to be a boring year. "Well truth the first week has been interesting with everything being different then what I am used to. Where I am from it normally not that boring and used to think happening like what now. It never happened though while at school just after. It nice to meet you Lorccan I hope that everything turns out well for you."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You new to magic?" Lorccan asked, glancing over at Chris. "Not that I care either way, but can certainly understand how the school won't be boring at all if magic is all new to you."
"My first year here, it was exciting. I knew about magic since my my parents are magic and my oldest sister too. I thought being here was wonderful, the classes so much different than public school. It does get boring eventually. Defense is interesting though, going to be working harder on that at least now that somebody kidnapped my sister."
"What class you like so far?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well no not really been around this type of magic. Other than me the only ones in my family are mother, grandmother, and older brother that 13. Most of magic I see is what my family teaches us. " he though about all his family had shown around the house. "Turth though it not the fact that know magic that will make it not boring. The reason is it different then wear I grow up. Something always going on."
"The classes are a lot more fun and worth while to be in. The ones at old schools were boring and put me to sleep. My grades were not the best and so my parents thought sending me away from the town and enrolling me in this school for wizards. Most classes I assume though when given the chance get boring. Just happy there is not any math involved." He was looking forwards to all the different classes he learn.
"I really don't have a favorite class yet. Out of all them I guess the most interesting is Care for Magical Creature because always wanted pet but never could get one."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lorccan shrugged. "Its easy to get a pet even if you don't have money. It all depends what you want and what you are willing to do to get it."
"I used to take care of a stray dog near my home in Boston, just fed it table scraps and it was my best friend for over a year till it was hit by a car. After that I rather lost all desire for a pet."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christopher listen to him talking about how it was easy to get a pet. He knew that there was plenty of ways he could get one. The problem he had was where would he keep the animal so his parents would make him take it back. "I would do anything it let me get a pet. My parents don't think have the money so would make me return it."
He looked at Lorccan as he talked about how he had a pet dog that got killed. "I am sorry that your pet got killed by a car. I leave in New York City so the only strays I really see a lot our birds and rats. The others get picked up by pounds."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"City as big as New York probably has all kinds of strays, pound can only take so much. Its probably just in your area they are cleared off." Lorccan highly doubted the city's pound even picked up strays. Not unless they were causing trouble or noticed to be in distress. Then again New York may have kill shelters and they just mass murder the beasts to make room for more. He wondered if the banishment spell he saw in his charm's book would make stray dogs vanish out of existence or just move them somewhere else.
"On some weekends, the younger years can go to town and you can buy whatever you want there. If you have some money I am sure you can buy yourself a pet and just keep it in your room. Come summer, if you don't think you can bring it home maybe a friend will care for it for you, for the summer."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christopher looked at him thinking on everything that was going on. He knew that there was most likely strays around the parts of town he never went to. The Bronx did not have any that he saw. It could have been most them stayed hidden from violence. "I live down in the Bronx. We don't see many strays and the ones I do see most likely can make you sick."
"I will think about getting one when go into town at some point." Christopher knew that he would never have the money to buy a pet. His parents barely had the money to send him to the school and get everything needed. He knew that they had taken form the little they safes up for college fund to do this. Christopher figure he could work on stealing one and once home say friend gave it to him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lorccan shrugged. "Just a thought anyway. You could always get friendly with the horses and other creatures McKay has for Care of Magical Creatures class. Taking care of them is sort of like taking care of your own pet expect you don't get to keep them."
"I am hungry...missed breakfast so going to head to the cafe and see if they're set up for lunch yet." Lorccan hoped he would his sister in the cafe for lunch. "You can come along if you want or stay out here.. up to you Chris."
He found himself near the cliffs facing the Lighthouse and all the hurt and anger just burst out of him in the only way he could express it at this point.
