Walker led the way to the stables and opened up the outer door, pulling it open wide so Elizabeta could walk inside. The horses and other assorted mounts turned to look at him for a moment, and then returned to whatever horsey business they were attending to before he came in. As he walked inside, he cocked his head a little at the strange little metal contraptions along the wall, and prodded one with the toe of his boot before giving a shrug and taking out his wand.
Walker had spotted two such traps last year, and had stepped on them to free the mice inside, banishing them to the forest, from where they had no doubt returned less than a week later. He considered doing so now, but then, Elizabeta might not enjoy seeing whatever mice had been caught running around her feet before Walker could banish them.
Moving to the wall, he pulled some straps off of the pegs there, and glanced around at the beasties surrounding them, wondering which animal he should choose. "Did you want to double up or ride seperate?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elizabeta entered the stable along with Walker and noticed she still had a few live traps in here. Normally she had enough mice to keep a breeding colony in her room by now but for some reason all she had been catching were females. Seeing one looked like it held a mouse, Elizabeta turned and headed right for the trap as Walker went for the harnesses. Crouching down, Elizabeta picked up the trap and took a sniff. It was all she needed to do to tell if the mouse was male or female. A rather pugnant odor told her it was what she was looking for. Putting the trap down she took out her wand and released the trap. A moment later the male mouse stuck his head out, read to run but before it could she banished it into the cage she had set up in her room for the mice she caught.
With the mouse gone, she used a quick cleaning spell to clean the trap and sent it plus the others still left in the stable to her room. She will dismantle and clean them up later. Turning towards Walker she smiled, ready to answer Walker's question.
"It depends on what animal we decide to ride. If we go with horses than we can each have one, if we use a thestral, I think it would be best we double up."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seeing Elizabeta handling the trap, Walker decided that it was probably best he not ask about the traps. If he remembered correctly, Elizabeta had a pet snake that sometimes was carried around draped around her neck and shoulders. Snakes were generally known to be bad medicine to the Apaches, but then, so were owls, and you could hardly swing a dead snake around the school without hitting an owl. "Together, then." He said, opening the stable of one of the school's thestrals, securing straps on its bony form so that they wouldn't fall off, and then leading it out of the stable.
"Climb on." He told her, kneeling next to the horse, his hands together, fingers interlaced to help her up onto the thestral's back.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elizabeta looked over at Walker as he knelt beside what she could only assume is a thestrel since she couldn't see the creature at all. Her curiosity about what it looked like was almost worth seeking somebody who was dying so she could watch him die, just so she could see a thestrel. She had mounted many large animals to ride and her long legs and flexibility was more than enough for her to mount up without a mounting step since she was about 10. Yet, she saw no reason to be rude to Walker for offering her a hand up.
Walking up to him she reached out into what looked like empty space to her till she felt the very solid form of the creature her eyes couldn't see. It was quite an odd feeling creature, its hide leathery, not furry like a horse. It was warm to the touch however and felt rather bony. Or at least the spot she was touching. She put her foot in Walker's interlaced hands and swung up and over till she settled into the saddle Walker affixed to the creature. She shifted a little till she was well seated and her feet were where they were suppose to be.
"Thank you Walker." She said cheerfully.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walker looked at how she was situated, and tried to figure out how this was going to work. A Thestral could carry heavy loads, but body mechanics was always a bit of a concern. He could either sit with his legs in front of the wing joint and be virtually spooning Elizabeta... Sitting with his legs behind the wing joint would require him to either sit facing backwards, or lay flat on the Thestral's back. "Scooch forward." He said, handing her the reins, and then swung up behind her, their bodies pressing dangerously close together. He leaned in a little and murmured in her ear, "Sorry, first time riding double since I was seven." That said, he clicked his tongue at the skeletal, winged horse and urged it forward with a spurring motion of his heels.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elizabeta moved forward, thinking he would have mounted infront of her but she was fine with him close behind him. It certainly was a mix of sensations having him so close. It wasn't unexpected for she did know by riding double, they would have to be quite close physically. She liked the feel of him so close. Hearing him speak close to his ear felt oddly soothing.
Once he moved the thestral out of the stables she let her body relax and move with the beast. It was trickier to do when she couldn't see the animal itself but by just letting herself feel the flex of muscle and bone underneath her and the slight movements of Walker as he moved with the Thestral and guided it with his body, she had no trouble getting into the right rhythm of the ride.
"Lets fly." Elizabeta said, turning to look over her shoulder at Walker, seeing mostly his broad chest till she angled her eyes upwards to see his face so close.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walker placed the reins in her hands a moment, then reached up to tie her hair in a loose braid. Something that would keep it from flying in his face while he was steering, even though the thestral was fully capable of steering itself, and would instinctively avoid danger. Then he leaned in, took the reins, and placed a smouldering kiss on her neck before retaking the reins, snapping them and spurring the horse into the air before she could rebuke him.
The thestral leapt into the air and beat its wings, catching the air and propelling itself and its passengers into the air, and Walker let out a war whoop as they launched. As they took to the air, the momentum pressed Elizabeta back against his body, and his arms, extending forward on either side of her to hold the reins, pulled close.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Walker started to braid her hair, Elizebeta realized she had forgotten to make sure her hair was tied off. Once he was done she was going to turn and thank him when she felt a kiss to her neck. She had not expected that but before she could say or do anything else, he snapped the reins and the thestril took to the air.
She didn't fight the momentum of leaning back with the beast's initial leap into the air, feeling the powerful and solid presence of Walker as she leaned against his chest. Felt his arms tighten around her as he held onto the reins. The war cry was unexpected but filled her heart with a surge of anticipation and excitement. Riding with Walker certainly won't be boring.
As the thestral continued to climb, its powerful but invisible to her, wings beating smoothly to either side. She could feel muscles move and flex under her thighs. She had always enjoyed experiencing the power creatures possess, even the more common horses. Being with Walker on the thestral, feeling the wind blowing against her face, it was all so primal and exhilarating. She imagined making love would be something like this.
"This is wonderful!" Elizabeta called out loud enough to be heard once their flight leveled off. "Flying on the back of a living and breathing creature is so much more exhilarating than just on a broom."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite the temptation that was there to take full advantage of being behind her on the thestral, Walker decided not to continue with the sneaky kisses on her exposed and vulnerable neck or ears. He might not be a total gentleman, and thought that being one was an antiquated bunch of European Victorian nonsense, the last thing he wanted to do was set himself up for more scolding.
Elizabeta was bound and determined to be a tough nut to crack.
Instead of trying to thrill her with his ardent prowess, he banked the Thestral to the side and dove downwards, putting the horse through its paces, diving down into the treeline of the forest and guiding it around and between trees, down to the ground for some hard galloping across the rocky island terrain and then back up into the air to soar high on the chilly autumn winds.
It was nowhere near as rough as he flew on a broom, or even on the ranch, where they would sometimes have to guide the thestrals down to kick the Re'em back into the herd, but it was certainly enough to get everyone's blood flowing faster.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Walker banked the thestral to the side and it dove downwards, skinning over the tree line among other such maneuvers, Elizibeta loved every minute of it. Riding was one thing she enjoyed greatly, far more than any other physical pastime she experienced thus far in her 16 years. She wondered if riding a dragon would be just as exhilarating or more so.
It is one of her dreams to find a way to gain a dragon's trust enough to be allowed to ride one. The large dragons would be easier as they would barely notice a rider but they weren't so easy to convince to allow you onto their back. The Peruvian Vipertooths were much smaller, averaging about 15 feet so more easily managed. Elizabeta intended to try, there was one young dragon who she had a particular affinity with who may be agreeable but with school keeping her away 10 months of the year, it was hard to establish the trust. Elizabeta hoped she could get an egg or hatchling after graduation to focus on, which may work.
The feel of the Thestral's feet on the ground briefly drew Elizabeta out of musing about dragonback riding and once more onto the thrill of the ride Walker was taking her. When the returned to the air and soar up hide, she felt her face grow chill and was glad she wore the heavy cloak to keep warm. Laughing she squeezed Walker's leg with one hand, showing her appreciation of the ride he was given her with that small gesture.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hold on..." Walker said in Elizabeta's ear, getting the thestral up to high speed and then pushing for another dive, steering the dark horse into a loop that pressed her even closer against him, and then a barrel roll. If not for the straps and Walker's arms holding her in place, she might well have been thrown from the creature's back, but Walker didn't have any plans of letting her slip from his grasp that easily, taking the reins with one hand while the other wrapped around her midriff.
At least he was gentleman enough not to try and cop a feel in that situation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elizabeta tightens her grip on the beast with her thighs but was grateful to have Walker's strong arms holding her in place as well when they did a loop followed by a tight barrel roll. It was quite impressive the thestral was so maneuverable in the air. Not all creatures could perform such aerial acrobatics especially with passengers.
"You're quite the flyer!" Elizabeta shouted to be heard over the rush of wind as Walker continued to guide the thestral through other exhilarating maneuvers.
