Christopher walked up and down the hallways. He really had not known were he felt like going to spend some times. There were a few places that the first couple weeks he learned were not the place to want. The first one had been the fact that he really had not wanted to spend any time in the library that was not needed. Why hang out where books were and librarian that would not let settle differences the way wanted. The other was the Throckwattle house, everything he heard on the place was that people went in coming out crazy.
Christopher walked by the outside of the cafeteria. He though about walking in and getting food but he really was nervous. Christopher had signed up to try out for the Quodpot team. He really did not believe that he would end up making it though wanted. He never really rode on a broom before school so how would it work out with all the others. He knew though that if he was going to have to do or try out for something to stop trying to fight with others. He knew that too much fighting would only get him kicked out of school like others.
"Hey, Christopher," Kit waved to him as she left the cafeteria, then paused and looked to him with concern. "You alright?"
Christopher moved to wave back when he seen one of the girls in his class. He really did not know that much about her since they had never talking before. “Hello, Kit.” He now had to decide what he was going to tell her about the whole being alright thing. He thought he was doing fine except for thinking about how not to get kicked out. The other schools were public so they did not have to pay anything like here. “I am doing alright. The school year been really hectic so far, it is causing my mind to have so many thoughts running through it on what needs to be done. Plus with all the different clubs and organizations working on doing try outs have the thought of what if not good enough.”
"So, you're anxious about tryouts?" she adjusted her messenger bag on her shoulder, not really sure if that's what he was saying or not. "Are you trying out for quodpot or the play?"
Kit hardly knew him, so she didn't know which he'd be interested in or which he'd be better at.
Christopher watched her adjust her messenger bag wondering if she was nervous talking to him or if something else was up. HE really had not had many people that would just come up and start trying to talk and get to know him anywhere he went. This encounter was really strange but looked forward to getting to know her better also. “Well I am trying out for the quodpot team though really not sure if will make it.”
He then smiled towards her. “What about you? I mean you trying out for anything”
"I'm sure you'll do great," Kit smiled right back. Christopher had a pleasant smile, she thought, then realized she couldn't recall ever seeing him smile before. This made her smile even more, thinking she had accomplished something in making him grin. Then she dialed her enthusiasm back a bit.
"No, I'm not trying out for anything," she shook her head. "Maybe next year I'll try out for Quodpot. I don't really know enough about it to try this year."
Christopher thought about what she was saying about how she was not trying out for Quodpot this year because did not know that much about it to understand and play it. The truth was that if he really though on it Christopher had not known that much about the game either. He was trying out because he thought that it might be a really good way to make sure he stayed out of fights. His parents paid pretty penny for him to come here least he could do was try and make it a while. "Well truth I don't know that much about the game either but thought it might be fun to play. If made it on the team then I am sure they would help teach me the rest of it."
"Well, maybe I'll... come watch tryouts," Kit said. "And cheer you on."
She almost said she might join the spirit squad, but the thought of wearing the skimpy outfit and jumping around and being girly made her feel queasy. But she could definitely go watch tryouts. And root for her friends.
"I'm sure you'll catch on in no time," Katrien smiled. "Mrs. Duke is very good at coaching, judging by what I've seen in PE."
Christopher listen to her saying that she would try and come out to the try outs. He never had anyone to cheer him on. "Sure you can come out I guess. Hopefully it will all work out and I could make the team. There were very few first years to ever make it. Plus on a school broom. You seem them not the best."
He had though about PE class and all of them learning flying. There had been plenty of other students in the class that did better on brooms then him. "I am sure that it will be easier to learn the more time given. It seems similar to muggle football just with brooms and exploding balls. I though of going to library to get book but after last time though that was bad idea." Christopher though of the time Lex and her were fighting. After that time he tries to avoid that part of school. "She seems like great teacher."
"Or hot potato," she suggested, wondering if he was from a pureblooded family that wouldn't even know what that is. "Tossing something around until a timer goes off or music stops or whatever."
Kit had played it both ways, and even with the actual Hot Potato game. It never seemed strange to her to be accustomed to all the small differences between US regions despite living in the same place her whole life. Coming here wasn't much different than going to a military town school, as far as varying customs and accents. The wizarding part, however, was still something to which she was almost a stranger. Katrien was never sure just how much about muggles the pureblooded ones knew. Some were absolutely clueless while others knew more than she did. While others, still, thought they knew plenty, but all of their facts were ass-backwards.
"Do you have enough time to maybe practice a little first?" she asked, raising her brows. "Maybe we can play some catch with a defused quod or something? I'm not bad with tossing a ball around - though I am not much on a broom, yet."
