Lorccan's brother in law, Rodriquez panned out. He was able to convince him via owl to send him the magical mirrors he wanted. Just to make sure he could have them as soon as possible, Lorccan detailed them out and even mentioned the book he found the instructions on how to fabricate them in his letter. He suggested to his Spanish American brother in law they could meet in Salem when most students were allowed to go to town but Rodriquez had other plans. So he agreed to just owl the mirrors for Friday, Saturday at the latest.
When he didn't get any packages in the morning like all post tended to arrive, Lorccan worried his brother in law may not have been able to make or find a pair of mirrors on time. Sighing Lorccan went through the last day of classes before the weekend feeling a bit down. Much to his pleasure he found the package waiting for him in his dorm. It was delivered there after the teachers did their sniffing about for contraband or whatever paranoid reasons they had. Of course he knew why. His sister's kidnapping. Heck, far as Lorccan was concerned, it was a good thing to staff was at least doing all they can to ensure she wasn't kidnapped again. Not that he trusted the faculty any more than he used to. He was still working on getting into the Skulls. Pledge week was starting in a few days too and he already talked to Elizabeta about his wish to pledge.
With the hand mirrors now in his possession, Lorccan carefully wrapped one up to protect it when he headed down for dinner. Now he just had to meet up with his sister so he can give her the mirror. Lorccan hoped she was going to be here for dinner and not hiding in the Lighthouse to avoid getting sick.
When Siobhan came into the cafeteria for dinner after play practice, she was relieved to see her brother had taken a seat near an open window. She filled up a pitcher of orange juice and loaded up on healthy foods for a change: lots of salad and whole grain bread and a pork chop. Then she sat down with her brother.
"Hi Lorccan. How are you feeling?"
"Hey Shi." Lorccan greeted his sister warmly then noticed what was on her plate. He frowned. Did she bring him a meal? He looked over at his tray, his dinner half eaten. He had two pork chops, potatoes, gravy, and broccoli and cheese. He didn't know why but broccoli and cheese just tasted great to him. By the time his sister had arrived he ate one pork chop and was half way through the broccoli. His own fresh bread was torn in half, covered in butter and ready to be dipped in gravy.
"Is Mom here?" He asked. It was the only time he ever saw her with a plate of healthy food, and that was at home. He eyed her tray intently a moment before looking up into her eyes. "I don't think I have ever seen you eat a healthy meal at school yet."
"I am feeling alright...hope you are feeling alright too."
"Rebecca got sick at play rehearsal. I thought I'd better at least try to be healthy." She poured herself her first glass of orange juice from the pitcher--there were three left in there--and proceeded to begin to eat her salad, not even putting dressing on it. "How do rabbits live off of this stuff? Rebecca looked awful. I've never seen an illness like this one before. I don't want to get it, and I don't want you to get it either."
"They eat real greens..." Lorccan muses. "Iceberg lettuce is about as nutritious as a wet paper towel. But the rest of the vegetables tossed into the salad are decent." Lorccan wasn't that well versed in healthy foods but he remembered what his mother always complained about typical head lettuce. 'Unless you grow it yourself it's just water and fiber.' Mother preferred richer greens like spinach and cabbage. At least when she was able to get a good price on them at the farmer's market.
"Sorry to hear your friend ended up sick. I have been keeping my distance from the sick people. At least as much as I can being they show up in classes, at meals, hang around the school." Lorccan smirked slightly. "Hopefully your rehearsals aren't totally ruined."
"I have good news though. About the mirrors I told you I heard about, that allow you talk to and see the person who has the other mirror. I tried to make them but well, that just wasn't going to work. After having one pair blow up on me, I decided to write to Rodriquez." Lorccan paused, letting it hang, as he wanted to add a little dramatic flare.
"And he made you some? Or bought them?" Maybe her eldest sister marrying into a Catholic but non Irish family had paid off. "May I see? I mean, when you get them?"
"Rodriguez sent me a pair. I have one here for you." Lorccan pulled out the bundle and handed it over to Siobhan. "There's an impervious charm on it too so it shouldn't break if you accidentally drop it. Now we can talk any time you need to talk, no matter where we are. As long as we have our mirror on us that is."
"They arrived this afternoon, I found the parcel in my room when I dropped off my books after class for the day," he revealed. "We can keep in contact with each other easily now."
