Damon had just came down the stairs to the main floor and he sits near the shadowed area of the room. He is reading the book that is new that his brother got him. He is reading the prologue first and the book is very interesting so far from what he has read. He also had brought down a couple of books that he has brought from home and they are a few books on the Dark Arts. He doesn't know if they where allowed or not but he has been reading them as well and continuing his studies when he is at home at least in the practical part of the study.
Lorccan thumped down the stairs, yawning. How he hated getting up early. His school uniform was rather wrinkled and there was a food stain from last night's dinner on the lapel. He had forgotten to leave his laundry up to be cleaned last night and this was his cleanest uniform. He had considered just wearing the clean clothing he did have and let the teachers yell at him for being out of uniform, but he didn't need to have more detentions.
He was yawning again when he noticed somebody sitting in the shadows reading a book. Lorccan didn't remember the other boy's name but wasn't all that surprised. He didn't know the names of every kid in the school, mostly those in his own class and who his sister hung out with. From the size of the boy, Lorccan was certain he would be a Junior or Senior. He was about to continue on past when the title of the books the older boy had on the table caught his attention. Curious he paused and walked towards the older student.
"Hi....interesting books you have there," Lorccan commented, quite certain one of these books were from the library. He had made it a point to go over every book about dark magic the school had, even if most of them the librarian wouldn't let him take out. But if this older kid had an interest in the dark arts, maybe Lorccan could use that to his advantage. Or find out if this kid was in any way responsible for what happened to his sister earlier in the year. Lorccan doubted it as he was quite certain it was a staff member, the main reason he wanted to get into the Skulls, to spy on Glassman. "From your own collection? I don't recognize the titles from the library."
"Ou, they are, the one that I am reading is my newest book." Damon said with a bayou accent. "My name is Damon Anton." He said while marking his place with a finger and holding out his hand to the new person that he has met. "I am still getting used to the school it is very different than my old school, and the winter is very cold." He said as he found that out the hard way when traveling with his parents. He is still sitting in the shadows and he is almost completely hidden from view. He smiles though at the thought of his old school but he then sighs as he misses his brother as well.
"You probably shouldn't be reading those other books out in the open, teachers are rather paranoid about dark magic, especially now." Lorccan suggested then grinned. "If you like I can hide them in my room."
"My name is Lorccan O'Brien, you sound like you are from New Orleans. You go to the school there? I heard it was quite different than Salem." Lorccan briefly shook Damon's hand, wondering why he kept trying to stay in the shadow of the staircase. Fortunately it wasn't so dark he couldn't catch part of the title of the book Damon had marked his place in with a finger. "You like vampires too?"
"Oui I do, and I did go to school there, before my family decided that a change of scenery was needed, dis book is new my brother got it for me." Damon said with a heavy bayou accent. Damon's skin is cooler than Lorccan's but he isn't sick. "I am still getting used to some of the different rules and regulations around here, I haven't been having much luck finding some of the rights for the darker magical creatures though." He said with a smile.
"Far as I know dark creatures don't have any rights," Lorccan shrugs. "Be in the law section in the library I expect or you can just ask Professor Llewellyn who teaches Defense or Professor McKay, the Magical Creatures teacher."
"Vampires and werewolves have rules to follow, registration I think and of course they can't be eating people or drinking their blood. Pretty much don't hurt anybody and they can live their lives however they want following at least the same rules as everybody else." Lorccan didn't much care for rules though he followed most just to avoid getting into too much trouble. "I am no expert, never met a vampire or werewolf to my knowledge anyway."
"Ah, wanting to find out if day did or not." Damon said with a smile and he picks up the books that he has next to him. He tilts his head a bit trying to figure out why the other boy would want to hide his darker natured books for him. "May I ask why you would take such a risk of da books being discovered in your room?" He asked in curiosity. Damon is also curled up under a very thick cover and he has a heating charm on the blanket as he is trying to stay warm. "Is it always dis cold here?" He asked.
"Been trying to find da rules that the vampires and werewolves have to follow but I might ask the professors to see if they can't point me in the right direction." Damon said. "The new book that my brother sent me is a very nice read though so far have only read the prologue." He said.
Lorccan shrugs. "Just means I get a chance to read them if they're in my room. I also have a good spot to hide stuff, not even my new roommate has a clue."
"Yeah, about those rules, best to ask the Professors or look it up in the library," Lorccan checked the time. "I want to grab something to eat before heading to class. You going back to bed?" Lorccan notices the blanket Damon is wrapped in. Odd place to bring out a blanket...it's not that cold as far as he was concerned. Unless Damon was getting sick.
"As long as day are returned as I have to make sure dat they get home safe and sound as well." Damon said as he removes himself from the cover but he pulls out his wand and casts a heating charm on himself. "Dis place is colder dan home." He said as he hands Lorccan the two books that his father had sent him inside his trunk.
"I expect it is, but Salem's not as cold as Boston gets in the middle of the winter," Lorccan dumps the two books into his bag. He will move them to his room once he finished breakfast, if he has time. "You going to have breakfast before classes? It's probably warmer in the cafe."
